Eastland, Texas, a premier city with a rich history and a
bright future. Eastland is located on Interstate 20, just over an hours
drive to the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex, and has matured from an oil

Eastland, San Jacinto hero and Texas Ranger.

City Meeting Notes
07/20/2010 - The Eastland City Commission met for their regular monthly meeting Monday, July 19, 2010 in the Commission Chamber at Eastland City Hall.
Mayor Mark Pipkin called the 6 p.m. meeting to order with Commissioners Larry Vernon, Jerry Mathews and Norman Owen present.
City staff present were City Manager Ron Holliday, Secretary Shirley Stuart, Finance Director Leslie Zander, Planning & Zoning Official Bill Dolen and Police Chief Cecil Funderburgh.
The Commission discussed Resolution No. 2010-04, Authorizing the Closure of the Ammerman Street Railroad Crossing. Following their discussion they requested Holliday bring the matter back to the August meeting with written details and any agreements between the City and the TxDOT Railroad Division and the railroad.
The board then heard annual reports and request for continued funding from the Eastland Chamber of Commerce, Eastland Community Foundation and the Crime Victims Assistance Center.
A report and request from the Eastland Fine Arts Association was tabled by request from that board due to the current issues related to Ed Alcorn’s absence.
The board approved on first reading Ordinance No. 758 setting the date, time and place for public hearings on the proposed annexation of certain property by the city. The properties in question are owned by the city and total some 342.87 acres.
Zander then presented a calendar for the 2010-2011 budget process.
Dolen then presented a Power Point presentation concerning the placement of the logo on the new water tower currently under construction at the city park. The board agreed the logos should face in an easterly and westerly directions.
The board approved a $6,000 budget amendment to cover additional cost for engineering related to extra water line replacement allowed under the current ‘King Kong’ project.
The board went into Executive Session at 6:59 p.m. to discuss issues with their attorney related to Emergency Services. They reconvened into regular session at 7:24 p.m. and declared no action to be taken.
Holliday then presented his City Manager’s Briefing where under his Good News Moment he reminded all of the KTAB On The Road show to be on the south side of the square Tuesday, July 20. He encouraged all to spread the word.
The meeting adjourned at 7:27 p.m.
