Kong Update for August 2

07/29/2010 - Businesses and residents in the King Kong Project areas are reminded to keep a good supply of fresh drinking water as well as a supply of flushing water on hand in the event of a service interruption. Crews attempt to keep the interruptions as minimal as possible, but unexpected issues could result in longer water outages.

Utility crews will be working along West Plummer from Dixie to Ammerman installing service to residents in the area. Across the street cuts will be necessary and this area will be closed to traffic periodically. Also, residents should expect service interruptions of up to 4 hours.
Additional crews will be working along far South Mulberry between Burkett and Frost as well as testing lines along West Plummer, North Lamar and South Marsh streets.
This week will see somewhat less work at the City Park around the new water tower. The tower pedestal is complete and crews will mainly be doing minor work until the tank assembly begins around the first of September.
PREWARNING NOTICE: Crews will begin replacing a water line along South Madera from Plummer to Sadosa within the next few weeks. It is hoped the work will be completed before school starts in late August.

With the construction of the new water tower underway, the normal traffic route around the City Park will be interrupted throughout the summer.
Citizens and visitors need to be observant of all traffic signs and personnel as well as the movement of heavy equipment and vehicles in the area.
General traffic not allowed in the immediate area of the construction site.
One-Way traffic flows to be converted to Two-Way in some areas.
Watch for signs!

Please remember when travelling in these construction areas to be on the alert and watch for crew members as well as heavy equipment, trenches, etc.
