Eastland, Texas, a premier city with a rich history and a
bright future. Eastland is located on Interstate 20, just over an hours
drive to the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex, and has matured from an oil
and gas driven agricultural and ranching community, to a bustling
business and retail center for a multi-county region. We estimate
Eastland's current population to be around 3,800 people.
Eastland was named for Capt. William M.
Eastland, San Jacinto hero and Texas Ranger.
Current area resources include oil, ranching,
farming and manufacturing. Eastland County
ranks fifth in the state in peanut production. Fruit, pecans,
vegetables, and feed crops are also important economic drivers.
Visitors to Eastland find that Eastland has
not lost its friendly atmosphere or its small-town feel. With a
quality of life considered to be one of the best in the region,
Eastland offers abundant parkland, a historic downtown area,
hunting and fishing recreational opportunities for young and
old, quality rated schools, good housing and a growing business
community.
All of these elements make Eastland a
wonderful place to live, work and raise a family... and a
popular place to do business.

Visionairies In Preservation Meeting August 5
07/29/2010 - EASTLAND, Texas –– Eastland’s Visionaries in Preservation (VIP) organization will begin creating the community’s preservation action plan on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Daugherty Street Church of Christ. VIP is the community planning program of the Texas Historical Commission (THC). VIP asks residents how they want their community to look and feel and provides the necessary tools to help Eastland retain its identity and sense of place as it grows and changes. Eastland’s VIP program began meeting once a month for eight months, starting in February and ending in September. At the end of the program, Eastland will have a preservation action plan that will make historic buildings and other assets fundamental parts of continued economic and cultural growth. At the past six meetings, Eastland’s VIP members identified important preservation and livability issues throughout town and learned about modern preservation practice. At the upcoming meeting, the membership will create a plan to address the issues. VIP Staff will assist the local organization in transferring the plan to the Eastland Historic Preservation Board, who will manage Eastland’s preservation plan. Your participation is essential! Even if you could not make it last month, you can still take part in this important group.
