21 Years of Car Shows & 30 Years of Auto Parts Sales
09/04/2007 - For the past 20 years, Bryans Auto Supply in Eastland has presented the Bryans Old Rip Car Show in conjunction with the Old Rip Festival. This year will not only be the 21st running of the Car Show, it also marks the 30th year in auto parts sales for Bryan. When asked about the upcoming 21st annual event, Bryan stated that all their family at Bryans enjoys putting together the show each year and that he personally enjoys all the people that the show brings together. Most people get rapped up in the cars, and I too enjoy the cars, but I am a people person and I really enjoy doing something with, and for, our customers and potential customers. They are our friends and because they trade with us, we can do things like this. Through the years we’ve given away over 1500 trophies, 500 event shirts, thousands of caps and pens, and thanks to the factory involvement help from Parts Plus, thousands of dollars in show giveaways. This has really got significant the last few years and is not just dollar items. It’s just really an awesome event and the best part is, after all these years, it’s still FREE and only getting better for everyone involved, said Bryan.
Each year's show, held on the streets of downtown Eastland, displays some of the most spectacular rides in the area. In celebration of 20 years, last year, Bryans awarded each and every participant with a trophy just for showing up. In addition, they unveiled and awarded the worlds largest Best of Show Car Show Award, being a 4’x5’ plaque, yes 5 feet tall, to Tim Jenkins from Strawn Texas.
This year’s show appears to be right on schedule and will be held on Saturday October 6th, and as in past years, will immediately follow the Old Rip Parade. No pre-registration is required and the show is generally a wrap by 2:00PM. All potential Car Show entrants are invited and encouraged to participate in the Old Rip Parade. When asked about selling parts for 30 years, Bryan stated that he loved selling parts today just as he did 3 decades ago. It’s a blast - I just wish there weren’t so many other demands to running successful businesses. I’d rather be on that counter all day every day, I enjoy trying to help people, said Bryan.
Bryan started as a counterman for the late Dan Dixon of Dixon Auto Supply in Cisco in 1977. After 8 ½ years of experience, he, along with his wife Tina, mother and father Kay & Bertie Jackson, started Bryans Auto Supply of Eastland. Since then, sons Daniel and Tye have been added to the family at Bryans along with many great caring employees that are also considered part of the family.
