Eastland Drug Opens Bigger and Better at New Location
10/23/2007 -
Plans for moving the Eastland Drug, Fountain, and Gold Lantern into a larger facility have been in the works for some time. That time finally came Monday, Oct 22 when the business first opened the doors at their new location on West Main St.
The newly constructed building covers 7250 sq ft and has 14 ft ceilings, which really give the interior an open feel. The entire structure is fully handicap assessable and includes dedicated parking, which it didn’t have before.

The pharmacy not only has an expanded facility, for faster, more effective service, but also contains a drive-thru, for prescription drop-offs and pickups. Roughly 8 times larger, the floor of the pharmacy is able to offer more products, like a full line of diabetic shoes and supplies. The owner of Eastland Drug, Dale Squires, says, “We look forward for everyone to come by and visit our new facility.”

The Gold Lantern is about 5 times larger, and has expanded 2000 sq ft over the old location. It now includes a larger variety of bridal selections, an expanded baby line, and even new graduation selections. This year will become the largest offering of Christmas décor with 7 different themes. James Brookhart, the buyer and visual director, says the official Grand Opening will be the 2nd week of November with door prizes and giveaways.

The fountain, now called Francie’s Fountain and Deli, has expanded to 3 times the size of the old. Francie Robinette operates the fountain and has brought over a wide selection of homemade soups, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Nothing from the old menu will be removed, but only added to. This is evident as Hazel Collins, a staple at the fountain for 31 years, has her own section in the menu called “Hazel’s Original”.

All 3 stores are located at 805 W Main St. and are open from 8:00AM to 6:00PM. You can contact Eastland Drug and the Gold Lantern at 629-1791. Contact Francie’s Fountain & Deli at 629-3354.
