First Annual LaMancha BBQ Cookoff, OCT. 17-18

09/08/2008 - Once again smoke will drift across the waters of Lake Leon in October as teams compete for the best barbeque brisket, ribs, chicken and beans.

The First Annual LaMancha BBQ CookOff will be held the third weekend in October starting this October. This cookoff will revive the event held several years ago and drew teams from all across the state.

The LaMancha BBQ CookOff will benefit the Eastland Community Foundation and the Eastland Centre for the Arts, both local non-profit organizations helping to bring better things to Eastland and the county.

Organizers of the event will bring more information in the weeks ahead and will be canvassing the area for sponsors, donations and entries.

Cooking events will include brisket, chicken and pork ribs as well as a jackpot beans category. Meat entries will be an all or one event for $60 with the Jackpot Beans set at $10.

The event will not be IBCA sanctioned, this year, but will follow those rules set by that organization.
