City's Street Brick Sale Continues
06/11/2009 - Eastland City Manager Ron Holliday announced the city’s sale of excess Thurber street brick, being made available thanks to the King Kong project, is going exceptionally well.
“We have sold several tons of brick,” he noted, “but there are plenty still available with more coming in almost daily.”
Interested parties can purchase the bricks at $25 per 100 minimum with a maximum of 300 at one time. Customers can be put on a list to become a repeat buyer as their name rotates through the list. Customers must load the 8 pound each bricks themselves.
Brick ‘Fire Sale’
“We have a large amount of odds and ends brick pieces available,” said Public Works Director Bobby Jacoby, “these range in size from quarter to half bricks up to bricks with chips. And to move these out we are offering them to the public at a great reduced price.”
Jacoby says the city will take $20 per pickup load for these “irregular” bricks, and as in the regular brick sale, purchasers must load their own.
These bricks are also a result of the current King Kong project and are available at the city yard.
Anyone interested in either of the brick products available should contact City Hall at 113 E. Commerce Monday through Friday from 8 until 4 to place their order and to arrange a pick up date and time.
“These bricks are a part of the history of Eastland,” said Planning Official Bill Dolen, “it would be a shame to dispose of them in any other way. They are great for driveways, sidewalks, curbs and more.”
“The City will continue selling the bricks as long as they are available and with future plans related to the King Kong project, a long term supply should be readily available for quiet some time,” added Holliday.
