Eastland, Texas News and Events

09/25/2012 - Lots of vendors, great food, arts & crafts, games, and entertainment will fill the day, beginning with the Old Rip 5K Run and Kids Fun Walk at 8:00am, followed by the Old Rip Parade at 10:00am, where you'll see lots of floats, cars, trucks, and specialty entries.

The festivities began on Saturday, September 22nd, with the Old Rip Beauty Pageant, where contestants vied for the titles of Baby Miss, Tiny Tot, Little Miss, Pre-Teen Miss, and Junior Miss. The winners of each category will be featured in the parade, as well. Kaymden Brooke Martin, 22 months, was selected as Baby Miss, Remi Kit Ray was selected as Tiny Tot, Rorri Boyd was Little Miss, Chaylin Fleming as Pre-Teen Miss, and Kayce Dodd was Junior Miss.

There will be live entertainment on the Courthouse Square beginning immediately following the parade, with music, singing, dancing, and presentation of awards. The featured band is Exit 343, who will perform between 2:00pm and 4:00pm, so don't miss out on this chance to sit in the shade of the pecan trees and enjoy this year's entertainment!

Of course, RipFest just wouldn't be RipFest without Bryan's 26th Annual Old Rip Car Show. Lots of antique cars, restored cars, and specially-built cars for your enjoyment, along with the fun and excitement of special deals from Bryan's Auto-Computers-Signs. Free hamburger lunch for car show entrants, so come on by and enjoy the show!

After the festivities on the Square, be sure to make your way over to Eastland Fire Department at 414 S. Seaman St. for their fantastic EFD Fish Fry, where you will not only have the opportunity to taste the best fish in this part of the country, but you can also have a chance to win a zero-turn radius mower. Tickets are on sale at the Fire Department, so be sure to get yours early! The Fish Fry starts at 5:30pm and ends at 7:30pm.

The day winds down with perhaps the most exciting event of the entire day... the "Booger Red" Nixon Bull Riding event which starts at 7:30pm at Leon River Cowboy Church, located in Olden on the south service road of IH-20. Don't miss this fun-filled day... Saturday, October 6th, in Eastland!
